  1. THANK YOU for your beautiful site. I moved to Harrisonburg in 1993 as a freshman and JMU and met the love of my life there. We married in 1997 and stayed until a new job opportunity arose in 2010. I loved every minute of living in Harrisonburg and your site brings it all back. Thanks for this awesome love letter to a city I love!

  2. Hi Brandy and Katie,
I’d like to have something listed for Friday August 11th. It’s the Second Friday Barefoot Boogie. It takes place at the Lucy Simms Center. It begins at 6:00 p.m. and goes until 9:00 p.m. It’s free. It’s sponsored by the Harrisonburg Department of Parks and Recreation. Dancers are invited to bring their favorite dance tunes on players that can plug in using 1/8″ headphone jacks. We supply an amplification system, speakers and a great wood floor dance space (the old gymnasium). You provide the steps, the energy and the intention to have fun, exhaust yourself in joyous, rejuvenating dance of your own making. Children are welcome on the dance floor and are always the responsibility of their parents (or caregivers). We provide cups for water. There is no smoking, no alcohol allowed in the center. There is a playlist in the event people do not bring music. It offers community building at its best. Come one, come all. We look forward to seeing you.

  3. Hey, I’d just like to say how helpful this site has been. It’s so convenient to have a place to see a bunch of different events in Harrisonburg on one website! Thanks so much for making this website a thing! It’s really helpful. It’s also done really well and everything on the schedule has been spot on! Please, please continue to keep it updated and great!

  4. Hey K, I was browsing the hometown news. Glad to see you’re keeping the website up. I was in a really dark, dank, alcoholic hole when I met you. I would’ve ran also…. You’re an interesting person and I think of you from time to time.

  5. Hi friends!
So my best friend is coming to town this Saturday and I’m looking for stuff for us to do while she’s here but the events list for this week hasn’t been posted so I’m wondering if you all have some ideas😊
    Thanks so much,
    Kaitlyn

    • Hello! Yes, sorry for that. Some weeks are just really busy with work and school and I can’t do the list. Ugh. But here are some suggestions:
The Farmers Market at Turner Pavilion
Bend and Brews Yoga, 10am at Three Notch’d (get there at like 9:30)
Saturdays at Showalter’s Orchard (cidery!) in Timberville, 9am – 8pm This place is awesome and it will be absolutely beautiful tomorrow!
There is music at Golden Pony, Friendly Fermenter, Cracked Pillar, and Clementine!

  6. Hello – please update the Happy Hour site when you have the chance. Half the places listed are no longer in business. Cheers

  7. Hi,

Getting comfortable with carrying some debt is a natural part of running a business. But as a result of the pandemic, many businesses are and will continue to carry too much debt — in amounts that could ultimately jeopardize their ability to stay open.

I’d like to provide your readers with tips on how they can get their businesses out of debt and increase their long-term financial health as they do so.

My article will be relatively short and sweet (5 – 6 tips) and advice-driven. Does it sound like something you’d be up for posting on your site?

    Thank you!
    Brittany
